Filmfare Award - Best Cinematography The country is being attacked from within. People in high places are working to destabilize the unity of the country and a secret investigation has to be conducted to identify these vicious criminals. A suave and sophisticated undercover agent (Dharmendra) is assigned the job and his quest takes him all over the world. His companion on this dangerous mission is a half-Indian half-Japanese girl (Mala Sinha). The unique, scenic locations, the fast-paced action and the exciting climax made this film one of the biggest successes of 1968. It celebrated its silver jubilee in 12 theatres, 100 days in 25 cities and set new box-office records in 50 locations. It was planned as a low budget quickie with Dharmendra who had just one release as an action hero, Shola Aur Shabnam. But another film Phool Aur Patthar, a later release, made him a superstar overnight and the director Ramanand Sagar decided to take another look at the project and upped the budgets. The results were well worth the switch.
